We may not drape a long white robe,
But we cover truth with white lies.
We may not stand against Jesus,
But we stand so far from His Word.
We may not fast from food often,
But we stick to old, soiled habits.
Our hands may be free on Sabbath,
But on Sundays our minds wander.
We may not ask signs of His sight,
But we do not speak of His love.
We may not pray long in public,
But we spend seconds in whispers.
Tithes may seem heavier than pure faith,
Yet we strut our jewels and pearls.
We may not have to wash our hands,
But we look at dirty pictures.
Jesus may not call us vipers,
But we stab His back every day!
They assert, “I’m no hypocrite!”,
But we don’t deny our fancies.
